At the beginning of Jesus’ ministry John the Baptist pointed to Jesus and said ‘Look – the Son of God!’
Two standing near by overhear this and see Jesus walking by. They are intrigued. Maybe they have already started wondering a bit about Jesus and now they don’t pass up on this opportunity to find out more, they walk after Jesus.
Jesus sees them following him and naturally asks them:
what are you looking for?
They answer “where are you staying?”
They were looking for a lot more than that – answers to bigger questions about who Jesus was and the role he might play in their life and thinking about God.
Their question ‘Where are you staying’ was hinting that they’d like to spend some time with him away from the crowds.
Jesus understood that and invites them to
• “Come and see”
So they spent the rest of the day with Jesus and the upshot is that their lives are changed.
• How often do we hear something about Jesus and wonder what it means?
• Hear something on Sunday and consider how it impacts on our everyday life?
Do we investigate, look into it further?
This is what a true disciple is – not a mindless follower, but one who learns, grows in faith.
Let us respond to Jesus call to ‘Come and see’
• Look into Jesus
• Discover more
• Let him impact our everyday lives.

There is always more to find out about Jesus – as Paul says to the Ephesians in his letter:
“I pray that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith and that you may come to know and understand the love of Christ – its breadth, depth, length and height – the love of Christ that surpasses all knowledge.”
